Thank you for all the wonderful feedback everyone! This one was fun for me to paint. I like to paint people even though it takes me longer to plan the painting and try to get "it" right.

This is just adorable Lisa. You have done such a brilliant job capturing the sweetness and innocence of this little girl. Plus, she looks postively soaking wet. Fantastic job conveying the movement of the water around her, even her little hand looks wrinkled and waterlogged. Her hair is incredible and her tone on her face if marvelous. I love how the water is reflected in the lower half of her face. Great job!

Artist's Description

While looking through my photos for more starfish to paint, I came across this photo, I had taken last spring. I had shot a few photos of the starfish as seen through the water but this little girl insisted on holding it up so I could get a better view. She had such charm and charisma, I wanted to paint her as well. We were at Gun Beach on Guam.

About Lisa Pope

I attempt to capture light and color that breathe life into the subjects I paint. I wish to carry the viewer on this journey with me, to find interest in the ordinary. I have always loved art! However, I chose to pursue a degree in education and pursued a career as a school counselor, got married and started a family; which left little time for art. I grew to miss it. During the past five years, I have immersed myself in painting every chance I get and reading all I can about art. I reconnected to my original love for art. I love how it feels to start with a fresh piece of paper. Its like Im seeing something for the first time, when I study it to paint it. I apply paint and cant wait to see what happens.
