This painting reflects some of the beautiful sunsets we see on Guam. It was done as a commission, so the original is sold. He is an officer in the US Navy about to leave Guam. I hope this painting becomes a nice momento of his stay on Guam.
About Lisa Pope
I attempt to capture light and color that breathe life into the subjects I paint. I wish to carry the viewer on this journey with me, to find interest in the ordinary. I have always loved art! However, I chose to pursue a degree in education and pursued a career as a school counselor, got married and started a family; which left little time for art. I grew to miss it. Very beautiful painting Lisa. The underpainting in the water is awesome as well as your treatment of the silohuetted treeline in the distance. Your lifting some color in them gives them an atmospheric connectedness and removes the possibility of them looking cut and paste. There are not enough good things to say about the streaks of color that reach up toward the heavens. I can imagine that your client was thrilled with his commission. Wonderful!
